What is AmeriCorps?

AmeriCorps provides opportunities for Americans of all ages and backgrounds to serve their communities and country through these programs:  AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps VISTA, National Civilian Community Corps, FEMA Corps and Senior Corps.  Members and volunteers serve with national and community non-profit organizations, faith -based groups, schools, and local agencies to help meet community needs.

Who Can Serve ?    ​

  • Must be 17 years of age of older

  • Has or is working toward earning a high school diploma or GED

  • Is a US Citizen, US National or legal permanent resident alien of the US

  • A cleared National Service Criminal History Check

  • Required Documents:  Driver’s License or State ID, Birth Certificate, Social Security Card and completed Official Application

Programs

Future Teacher Initiative Program

Future Teacher Initiative members tutor and mentor at-risk preschool students in Arkansas to ensure the students are socially, emotionally and academically prepared for kindergarten.

Smart Start Program

Smart Start members provide intense one-on-one and small group tutorial reading and math assistance to students in grades kindergarten through fifth.
