The Arkansas Behavior Support Specialists, along with a presenter from Advancing Wellness and Resiliency in Education, brought AR THRIVE to Southeast Arkansas Education Cooperative on March 10-11. Day one focused on creating behavior expectations, developing a behavior matrix, distinguishing between major and minor behaviors, and developing both a flowchart and behavior lesson plans. Day two targeted creating trauma-invested schools. Participants learned about adverse childhood experiences (ACES) and their impact on students and adults, as well as the importance of connection and relationship building to mitigate the effects of trauma. Days three through five in June 2025 will cover discipline procedures, rewards and recognition programs for staff and students, Tier 2 and Tier 3 behavior supports, school-based mental health in Arkansas schools, and Youth Mental Health First Aid.
